What's New. Our Findings from CES 2012 Visit.

WOW! What a show! 2700+ exhibitors displayed across 1.6 million net square feet of exhibit space. The ultimate trade-show marathon to cover in just two days.
Apple dominated the International Consumer Electronics Show CES 2012 without even being there to present. Everyone else did it for them. Booths upon booths across three halls and some hotels featured cases, holders, stands, headphones, speaker docks, fitness & health gear, Apps and car add-ons for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Macs.
iPhone cases by the truckload. Cases with Swarovski diamonds, cases made out of recycled, leather, ballistic, bamboo or child-safe materials - cases to take into the tub, shower, pool or ocean - cases designed in New York, California, Italy, Australia (made in China/India) by brands you have heard of Body Glove and Hex and many others that you haven’t Shenzhen Oscoo Tech Co Ltd.

Headphones were also plentiful. Even the Ferrari brand through Logic 3 was onsite to debut a new headphone line next to a gorgeous Ferrari scheduled for release later this year.
It was my observation that many companies/brands are either trying to capture a piece of the Apple ecosystem or directly compete with a “me too” Apple product innovation (ultra-books, tablets, smartphones, TV, mobile OSs). It’s funny - there weren’t truckloads of cases and accessories for the HP/Lenovo ultrabooks or the Samsung Galaxy/ Blackberry smartphones/tablets on display to consider.
Ducking out of the way for a camera shot or waiting till an interview was over you could feel the international media presence throughout. Also in attendance were the people behind the design and production of the next “big thing” (from Apple too) to see what the competition was up to, distributors (including some we purchase from) and final purchasing decision makers for the giants like Apple Store, Best Buy etc. One other independent Apple Specialist from Canada was present.
The reason for this trip was to find fresh new products (that I had hoped to tweet about on the spot but bizarrely wifi access was not available freely) and make direct contact with the brands that we have come to love to feature in our stores. What stood out from the sea of clutter were companies that delivered one or two great new products (or product evolutions) and really spent time focusing on design and function.
We look forward to seeing the following great finds in our stores in the year ahead.

Hereʼs to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. Theyʼre not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you canʼt do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. - Apple Inc.
